Celebrating Grandparents Day at Erina Kindergarten
At Erina Kindergarten, we love bringing children, families and our wider community together to celebrate the special relationships that make our kindergarten such a welcoming place. Our recent Grandparents Day celebration was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the important role grandparents and family members play in children's lives.
Held on our beautiful outdoor field, the event welcomed grandparents and families to spend quality time with the children, enjoy hands-on activities and create special memories together.
A Day Filled With Fun and Connection
Our educators prepared a variety of engaging activities for children and their visiting family members to enjoy together.
There was plenty to explore, from sensory rice trays and Play-Doh to creative vase-making activities. These hands-on experiences encouraged everyone to get involved, experiment with different materials and enjoy creating something together.
The reading station was another highlight, with grandparents and families sharing stories and interacting with the children. Reading together provides a lovely opportunity to connect through books, language and imagination, while making time for meaningful conversations and shared enjoyment.
It was wonderful to see so many families participating in the activities and enjoying the experience alongside the children.
Celebrating Creativity Through Play
Play is an important part of early childhood learning, and Grandparents Day gave families the chance to experience some of the activities children enjoy at kindergarten.
Sensory play with rice trays allowed children to explore different textures and practise using their hands and coordination. Play-Doh encouraged creativity and fine motor development, while vase making offered an opportunity to experiment with materials and express individual ideas.
Taking part in these activities together also gave grandparents and children time to collaborate, share ideas and celebrate each other's creations.
Our educators put a great deal of thought into preparing the experiences, and seeing families engage so enthusiastically made their efforts especially rewarding.
Sharing Food and Building Family Connections
Alongside the activities, families enjoyed a delicious selection of food and had time to relax, chat and connect with other members of the Erina Kindergarten community.
Events like Grandparents Day help strengthen the connection between home and kindergarten. They allow families to spend time in the children's learning environment, meet educators and other families, and gain a glimpse into the experiences that form part of everyday kindergarten life.
Grandparents and extended family members often bring their own stories, traditions and experiences. Celebrating these relationships helps children appreciate the important people in their lives and feel connected to their family and community.
Thank You to Our Grandparents and Families
A heartfelt thank you to all the grandparents and family members who joined us for this special day. Your time and participation helped make the celebration such a memorable occasion.
We would also like to recognise our wonderful educators for organising the activities and preparing a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy.
At Erina Kindergarten, we value opportunities to bring families together and celebrate the relationships that support children's learning and development. We loved seeing the smiles, conversations and shared moments throughout the day.
Thank you for being part of our kindergarten community. We look forward to welcoming our grandparents and families back for another special celebration next year!
