Meet Alexis: Our Certificate III Educator at Erina Kindergarten
At Erina Kindergarten, our educators play an important role in creating meaningful learning experiences and supporting children as they grow, explore and develop new skills. In this edition of our educator series, we’re pleased to introduce Alexis, a qualified Certificate III Educator who has been part of our team for around 18 months.
Working in our Bilbies Room, Alexis enjoys building strong relationships with children and families while helping children develop confidence, curiosity and a love of learning.
Getting to Know Alexis
Since joining Erina Kindergarten, Alexis has enjoyed being part of a welcoming early learning environment where children have space to explore, play and participate in a variety of activities.
One of the things she appreciates most about Erina is the spacious environment, which gives children opportunities to engage in different experiences throughout the day. Whether they are exploring indoors, enjoying outdoor play or participating in hands-on activities, Alexis loves seeing children discover new interests and learn through their everyday experiences.
She also enjoys the special events celebrated throughout the year, including Book Week, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. These occasions create opportunities for children, educators and families to come together and share memorable moments as part of the kindergarten community.
Building Meaningful Relationships With Children and Families
Alexis currently works in the Bilbies Room and has known many of the children since their time in the Gum Nuts Room.
Watching children grow and develop over time has made her experience at Erina especially rewarding. Having the opportunity to build relationships with children as they move through different stages of their early learning journey helps Alexis better understand their personalities, interests and individual needs.
She also values the relationships she has developed with families. Open communication and strong partnerships between educators and families help create a connected learning environment where children can feel supported both at home and at kindergarten.
Learning Through Play and Exploration
Alexis is passionate about supporting children's growth and development through engaging, hands-on learning experiences.
She particularly enjoys messy play, where children can explore different textures, experiment with materials and learn through their senses. These experiences encourage curiosity, creativity and problem-solving while allowing children to learn at their own pace.
Alexis also enjoys planning different activities that reflect children's interests and encourage them to participate actively in their learning.
For her, one of the most rewarding parts of being an educator is watching children become absorbed in an activity, try something new and discover what they can do.
Supporting Early Literacy and Numeracy
Alongside creative and sensory experiences, Alexis enjoys helping children develop their early literacy and numeracy skills.
Everyday play provides many opportunities for children to explore letters, sounds, numbers, counting and early mathematical concepts. Through thoughtfully planned experiences and meaningful interactions, educators can help children build these foundational skills in ways that are engaging and appropriate for their stage of development.
Alexis enjoys watching children develop these abilities over time and supporting them as they prepare for their next stage of learning.
At Erina Kindergarten, we recognise that every child develops at their own pace. Our educators aim to provide experiences that encourage children to explore their interests, practise new skills and grow in confidence.
Welcoming New Children and Families to Erina Kindergarten
Alexis looks forward to welcoming new children and families who join Erina Kindergarten and becoming part of their early learning journey.
Starting at a new kindergarten is an important milestone for families. Building warm relationships, getting to know each child and helping them become familiar with their environment are all valuable parts of this transition.
We’re delighted to have Alexis as part of the Erina Kindergarten team. Her enthusiasm for hands-on learning, her commitment to children's development and the relationships she builds with children and families contribute to our everyday kindergarten community.
