Meet Alisha: Creativity, Learning and Connection in the Gum Nuts Room
At Erina Kindergarten, our educators bring their own experiences, interests and strengths to the learning environment. These individual qualities help create a diverse team and provide children with different opportunities to explore, create and learn.
Today, we're pleased to introduce Alisha, one of the newest members of the Erina Kindergarten team, who works as the 2IC in our Gum Nuts Room.
Meet Alisha
Originally from Nepal, Alisha has recently joined Erina Kindergarten and is enjoying getting to know the children, families and educators in our community.
She has a genuine passion for working with children and particularly enjoys creating opportunities for children to express themselves through arts and crafts.
Creativity Through Arts and Crafts
Arts and crafts are a favourite part of Alisha's work with children.
She enjoys bringing her own creativity into the learning environment while giving children the freedom to explore their own ideas.
For Alisha, it's not simply about what the finished artwork looks like. She loves watching the process — seeing children choose materials, experiment with different techniques, make decisions and develop their own creative ideas.
These experiences can provide opportunities for children to practise fine motor skills, express their thoughts and develop confidence in their own abilities.
Following Children's Interests
One of the things Alisha particularly enjoys is seeing how children respond to different learning experiences.
Children can approach the same activity in very different ways. Some may carefully plan what they want to create, while others may experiment and discover something unexpected.
Alisha enjoys observing these moments and using children's interests to help shape future experiences.
By following children's curiosity, educators can create learning opportunities that are meaningful and engaging for each group of children.
Supporting Children's Development
Alisha also enjoys watching children progress through their different developmental milestones.
