Meet Eva: Supporting Educators and Families at Erina Kindergarten
At Erina Kindergarten, experienced educators play an important role in supporting our team and creating a positive environment for children and families.
Today, we're pleased to introduce Eva, our Team Mentor, who brings nearly 40 years of experience in early childhood education to her role.
Eva has also been part of the Erina Kindergarten team for almost six years, making her an important and familiar part of our kindergarten community.
Supporting Educators From the Beginning
As Team Mentor, Eva supports educators throughout their induction and helps them become familiar with their roles, our policies and everyday practices.
Rather than simply providing information, Eva spends time on the floor with educators, offering practical guidance and support as they work with children.
This hands-on approach allows educators to ask questions, build confidence and learn how to respond to the everyday experiences that happen in an early childhood environment.
Supporting Everyday Learning and Care
Eva helps educators develop confidence across many areas of their daily responsibilities.
This includes supporting educators with:
Building positive relationships with children
Understanding and following centre policies
Supporting nappy changes and personal care routines
Serving meals and supporting mealtimes
Using OWNA to communicate with families
Understanding how to support children's needs throughout the day
By working alongside educators, Eva can share her experience and help them develop practical skills that support their work with children and families.
Encouraging Educators to Grow
For Eva, one of the most rewarding parts of her role is supporting other educators.
She sees her role as one of encouragement, guidance and support — helping educators become more confident and continue developing their skills.
Early childhood education is a profession where learning never stops. Educators continue to learn from their colleagues, from children, from families and from their own experiences.
Eva enjoys being part of that learning journey and helping educators grow in their roles.
Supporting Stronger Relationships With Families
Building positive relationships with families is also an important part of Eva's work.
She supports educators in using OWNA and other everyday communication practices so that families can stay connected with their child's experiences at kindergarten.
Good communication helps educators and families share information, understand children's needs and work together to support each child's learning and development.
Nearly 40 Years in Early Childhood Education
With almost four decades of experience in early childhood education, Eva brings a wealth of knowledge to the Erina Kindergarten team.
Her experience gives her a broad understanding of the early childhood sector and the many different responsibilities involved in supporting children, educators and families.
After almost six years at Erina Kindergarten, Eva continues to enjoy being part of the centre and supporting the team.
