Today at Erina Kindergarten, the children had a truly special experience as they spent time with our gentle visitor, Shortie the horse.
The children were invited to engage with Shortie in a hands-on and meaningful way. They carefully brushed his body, mane, and tail, learning how to care for him while developing a sense of responsibility and empathy. Some children even enjoyed decorating Shortie with colourful clips, adding a fun and creative touch to the experience.
We understand that every child approaches new experiences differently. For those who felt a little unsure about getting close to a horse, our educators provided gentle support—holding and guiding them so they could safely pat Shortie and build confidence at their own pace. Other children preferred to sit nearby, quietly observing. Even from a distance, they were able to enjoy the calm and soothing presence that Shortie brought to our environment.
Experiences like this offer so much more than just fun. They help children develop confidence, emotional awareness, and a deeper connection with the world around them. Whether actively participating or simply observing, every child was able to engage in a way that felt comfortable and meaningful.
At Erina Kindergarten, we value creating unique, enriching opportunities that support each child’s individual journey—encouraging curiosity, compassion, and confidence every step of the way.
