At Erina Kindergarten, we love creating opportunities for children to discover the joy of books and storytelling. Book Week is always a special time of year, bringing stories to life through costumes, imaginative play, and shared experiences.
This week, our kindergarten was transformed into a colourful collection of favourite book characters as children and educators dressed up and celebrated the stories they love.
Bringing Favourite Characters to Life
From Batman and Elsa to pirates, angels, ninjas, and many other characters, our children arrived ready to share their favourite stories with their friends and educators. 📚✨
It was wonderful to see their excitement as they recognised familiar characters and talked about the books that inspired their costumes.
For children, dressing up can be a wonderful extension of storytelling. It allows them to imagine themselves as a character, recreate parts of a story, and develop their own ideas.
Encouraging a Love of Books
Book Week provides a wonderful opportunity to encourage children's interest in books and reading.
Through stories, children can explore new ideas, meet different characters, discover new places, and develop an understanding of the world around them.

When children dress up as their favourite characters, they can continue exploring the story through imaginative play. A child dressed as a pirate might create their own adventure, while another dressed as a superhero might imagine helping others.

Our Educators Join the Fun
Book Week is even more special when our educators get involved!
Our teachers and educators dressed up alongside the children, helping create a shared celebration filled with laughter, conversations, and creativity.

Celebrating Every Story
One of the most wonderful things about Book Week is seeing the wide variety of characters and stories that children choose.
Every costume represents a story that has captured a child's imagination in some way. Whether it's a superhero, princess, pirate, ninja, or another favourite character, each choice provides an opportunity for children to share something they enjoy.
